This informative online workshop will provide working actors with the confidence they need to prepare their own taxes. It will cover IRS lingo, business expense categories unique to performing artists, a “this number goes there” overview of tax forms, suggestions for record-keeping, and tax myth-busting.
Annette Mooney is a local actor (and AC Board Member) whose first acting job forced her to dive into the arcane tax laws for performing artists and other independent contractors. She went from offering free tax advice backstage to running her own tax preparation business. Though no longer preparing returns for others, she still keeps up on tax laws for herself and hires out as a consultant for those wanting advice for doing their own taxes. She holds a BA in Business and an MBA in Marketing from Loyola College (now University) in Baltimore.
