WHAT IS IT?
A discussion with free-lance casting consultant Naomi Robin, who spent 13 years casting at Theatre J and now works with theaters around the DMV. This is not a workshop or master class; no scenes or monologues will be performed.
HOW WILL IT WORK?
Naomi will discuss her casting process, how she prefers to work with actors, and insights about working with different theaters and directors. This will be followed by a Q and A session.
WHAT LEVEL ACTOR IS IT FOR?
This event is open to all actors at all levels. The focus is on stage acting.
WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?
You'll gain information about casting practices and trends, how to effectively present yourself, and the do's and don'ts of auditioning from one of the area's foremost casting directors.
NAOMI ROBIN was the Casting Director at Theater J for 13 years. For many years she was a stage actress based in New York, performing with such actors as Theodore Bikel, Robert Merrill, and Jan Peerce. Later she moved into voice-over work with such clients as PBS, Discovery, and National Geographic. Since then, her voice has been heard on thousands of TV and radio spots, including a host of political ads. In recent years, she has returned to her theatrical roots through her work with Theater J, the Helen Hayes Awards, and a very extensive schedule of playgoing. She has recently worked at Catholic University, coaching a semester-long auditioning workshop course for third year Masters in Acting candidates and now works as a free-lance casting consultant.
