Polish your next audition monologue!
Each artist will briefly share his/her/their goals for the workshop and upcoming audition. Ian will quickly discuss monologues in the audition environment. All actors will be led through a few invigorating group warm-ups. Each actor will be guided through various mission-specific run-throughs of their pieces and will be given feedback, adjustments and be able to share a final "performance" of their piece/pieces.
Please come prepared with your 90-second monologue(s) memorized.
Ian Armstrong has performed at Arena Stage, The Shakespeare Theatre, Studio Theatre, The Kennedy Center, The Folger Shakespeare Theatre, Rorschach Theatre, Taffety Punk Theatre, Washington Shakespeare Company, SCENA and was a member of Source Theatre's Resident Acting Company. He has been a faculty member of The Duke Ellington School For The Arts, The Kennedy Center Theater For Young People, and was Performing Arts Chair at McLean H.S. He has also worked outside the Washington Area directing productions for La MaMa in NYC, CollaborAction in Chicago, and was Artistic Director for Laughing Dog Productions in Los Angeles where he was a member of Theater LA, an Ovation Voter, directed the Media Access Awards, served as Literary Associate for The Mark Taper Forum and worked with Ethel Winant and John Frankenheimer for TNT Films on shows winning 9 Emmy Awards during his tenure. Ian is a proud DC native and holds degrees from The Corcoran School of Art (BFA), The American University (BS) and The Catholic University of America (MFA).
