Wednesday, October 17
11:00am - 2:00pm
The AC Office
1810 16th St NW, 2nd floor
in the church on the corner of 16th & S St
For intermediate/advanced members ages 18+.
This workshop takes place in the middle of the day, so members are welcome to bring their lunch.
WHAT IS IT?
This workshop will inspire and equip artists through sharing/embracing tools, techniques and exercises to delve deeper into their character work within the context of preparing a monologue and auditioning for the stage. The workshop will work to foster joy and confidence in the monologue preparation process and performance elements of the audition process.
HOW WILL IT WORK?
Artists, please arrive physically and vocally warm with a 60-90 second memorized monologue. Thank you for bringing a notebook, water or another drink, and 2 hard copies of your monologue. If you'd like Adrienne to offer feedback on your headshot and resume after the workshop, please bring a copy of those with you, as well. Artists will be guided through various physical, vocal, character and written exercises to help them further develop and/or discover their characters’ back-story/bio/body/relationship with scene partner/s/environment/rhythms/voice/status/fears/dreams/inner life/objectives/conflicts and more! Each actor will be able to do a practice audition where they’ll receive Instructor feedback and adjustments and share their monologue a few times within the context of the workshop.
WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?
Artists will learn how various tools, exercises and techniques may inspire, equip and prepare them for their monologue preparation process and the audition itself. Ideally actors will leave inspired, equipped, re-invigorated and confident to curate their own process (and checklists) mined from what they discovered through this workshop experience!
