WHAT IS IT?
Everyone will bring in a 16 line verse monologue, we will go over scansion and text work together and then move to working on out feet and embodying Shakespeare's words.
HOW WILL IT WORK?
You bring in a piece the first day, it does not need to be memorized, or it can be a piece you have used and want to freshen up. We will start at the beginning with scanning, defining, and breaking down the text. By the next class we will begin to work on our feet and talk about what our character needs. Last class we will continue working and sharing.
WHAT LEVEL ACTOR IS THIS FOR?
Stage actors; some Shakespeare experience or influence would be nice but not necessary. Level 2
WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?
A better understanding of how to approach Shakespeare's text and bring it to life, as well a monologue prepared in class.
